Impact Flores ends July on a five-game hitting streak, and he batted .383 (31-for-81) with six homers and 11 RBI in the month. The infielder got the nod at third base Monday, though he may be slipping back into a utility role with LaMonte Wade (back) returning to action following a three-game absence over the weekend. Flores is slashing .298/.354/.537 with 14 homers, 35 RBI, 33 runs scored and 16 doubles over 268 plate appearances this year -- he's done well enough to see more than just a short-side platoon role even when the Giants are mostly healthy in the infield.

Taylor Rogers - Takes loss Monday Rogers (5-4) allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk over one inning to take the loss in extra innings versus the Diamondbacks. He did not record a strikeout.
Impact The Giants were able to rally from behind to tie the game in the 10th inning, but they didn't have a second comeback in them. Rogers saw his 6.1-inning scoreless streak come to a close. Since he only gave up an unearned run, he didn't do damage to his ERA, which is at 2.65 with a 1.10 WHIP and 44:18 K:BB through 37.1 innings this season. Rogers has added six holds and a save while filling a versatile role that often sees him picking up late-inning work.

Impact For his second outing in a row, Wood worked as a de facto piggyback to Jakob Junis, who started the game with three scoreless innings. Wood has completed five innings just three times in nine outings since he returned from a back strain. The Giants have shown little interest in stretching him back out, so it appears his best path to wins will come as a bulk reliever. Wood has a 4.83 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 53:32 K:BB through 63.1 innings over 17 appearances (11 starts) this year.

Impact Junis started for the first time in 28 appearances this season, and he delivered a solid, albeit short, outing. Alex Wood piggybacked Junis and gave up two runs over 2.2 innings. Junis has had mostly mixed results as a multi-inning reliever this season, posting a 4.55 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 69:17 K:BB through 59.1 innings. He's had little middle ground lately, allowing multiple runs in six of his last 12 outings while posting scoreless appearances in the other six games in that span. The right-hander may continue to get looks as an opener on piggyback option, but it's unlikely the Giants would stretch him out as a traditional starter this late in the year.

Wade Meckler - Promoted to Triple-A Meckler was promoted from Double-A Richmond to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Impact Meckler, an eighth-round pick in 2022, has been a revelation this year. He dominated in the lower levels, which didn't mean much given that he was old for those levels and had a .531 BABIP at Single-A in 2022 and a .493 BABIP at High-A this season. However, his .336/.431/.450 slash line with a 14.4 percent walk rate and 16.7 percent strikeout rate in 39 games as a 23-year-old at Double-A suggests he could make it as a regular and perhaps even as a leadoff hitter someday at the highest level. Meckler doesn't have above-average power or speed, so it will have to be his hit tool that drives his fantasy value and real-life value.
