Marco Luciano - Begins rehab assignment in Arizona Luciano (back) started a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Thursday, going 1-for-2 with a run and an an RBI in his first game action since June 3.
Impact Luciano looks to be nearing the finish line in his recovery from a lower-back strain, which has kept him out of action for the past two months. Before the injury surfaced, the Giants' top prospect was slashing .288/.360/.507 with eight home runs in 164 plate appearances at High-A Eugene.

Impact Slater has started six straight games, but he hasn't seized the uptick in playing time by going a meager 3-for-26 (.115) in that span. The Giants have faced five left-handers in that span, accounting for much of Slater's extra time in the lineup, but without results, he could begin to lose some opportunities. J.D. Davis - Hits first homer with new team Davis went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers.
Impact Davis briefly gave the Giants a lead in the second inning, but it was gone in the fourth. Davis has gone 2-for-8 in two contests since joining the Giants, starting at third base in both games while Evan Longoria (hamstring) continues to work his way back. Through 68 games between the Giants and the Mets this year, Davis owns a .238/.321/.370 slash line with five homers, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored and a stolen base. He'll have a chance at regular playing time until the Giants get some players back from injury, which could push the 29-year-old into a short-side platoon role.

Drew Jackson - Staying in Bay Area Jackson signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Thursday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports. He was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento.
Impact Jackson was released by the Athletics on July 29, but he found a new organization quickly. The infielder slashed .243/.353/.297 with Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his release, and he also made three plate appearances with the A's in the majors. He'll likely spend most of the rest of the season at Sacramento.

The 36-year-old has been fielding grounders and running over the last week, and it's not yet clear whether he'll embark on a brief rehab assignment prior to being activated.
