Joey Bart - Two strikeouts in return Bart (illness) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Cubs.
Impact Bart missed one game due to an illness. He's down to a .224 batting average with 21 strikeouts in 18 contests in July. While the 25-year-old is likely to see most of the starts behind the dish, his .180/.288/.331 slash line and 43.8 percent strikeout rate remain discouraging. Curt Casali (oblique) began a rehab assignment Wednesday, and he could threaten Bart's place on the 26-man roster once he returns, as the Giants may want their catcher of the future to work on his swing at Triple-A Sacramento rather than in the big leagues.

Thairo Estrada - Steals in consecutive games Estrada went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Cubs.
Impact Estrada notched his second steal in as many days and his 15th in 17 attempts this year in the eighth inning. The infielder has produced six multi-hit efforts in his last 16 contests, going 18-for-57 (.316) in that span as one of the Giants' most consistent hitters. He's slashing .265/.317/.412 with nine home runs, 41 RBI, 49 runs scored, 16 doubles and a triple through 88 games this year.

Camilo Doval - Locks down 13th save Doval allowed a hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Cubs.
Impact This was Doval's second appearance since the All-Star break -- the Giants' seven-game losing streak entering Thursday had limited the need for manager Gabe Kapler to deploy the closer. Through 8.1 innings in July, Doval's been a little shaky, allowing four runs (two earned), eight hits and four walks while racking up 12 strikeouts. He's 13-for-15 in save chances with a 2.81 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 52:17 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season. This was the 25-year-old's first save in a month.

Impact Wood put two runners on base in the first inning but unscathed and carried a no-hitter in the seventh inning. He allowed a single to Ian Happ and a two-run home run to Patrick Wisdom, but that was all the scoring the Cubs mustered as Wood snapped the Giants' seven-game losing streak. The southpaw has had some uneven performance lately and ends July with eight runs allowed (five earned) in 27.1 innings across five starts. For the season, he's pitched to a 4.11 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 99:25 K:BB in 100.2 innings in 20 outings. He's tentatively projected for a home start versus the Dodgers next week.
