Alex Wood - Gets back in win column Wood (3-2) earned the win during Tuesday's 9-2 victory over Colorado, allowing one unearned run on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
Impact Wood put multiple Rockies on base in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings but was able to limit the damage to an unearned run in the fourth. Manager Gabe Kapler let the 31-year-old toss a season-high 104 pitches -- 15 more than his next highest outing -- though Wood was only able to tie his season high in innings. He'll take a 3.60 ERA into a start tentatively scheduled for Sunday Night Baseball against St. Louis.

Impact Flores was penciled in to make his fourth straight start at third base Tuesday, but he's instead out of the lineup with the back issue. He should be considered day-to-day for now, while Mauricio Dubon will take his place at the hot corner.

Impact Gonzalez knocked in the Giants' last run of the game in the eighth inning. While he's regularly played in the outfield, Gonzalez started as the designated hitter Monday, presumably to keep his bat in the lineup while the struggling Joc Pederson got a day off. Gonzalez is slashing .300/.345/.400 with a home run, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and two stole bases in 16 games this season. The Giants' outfield is now mostly healthy, however, so the 26-year-old may see his opportunities scaled back.

Impact McGee was fortunate to enter the game with a six-run cushion, as he was ineffective in his inning of work. The southpaw's last save came nearly three weeks ago -- April 20 versus the Mets. Since then, he's surrendered 10 runs (nine earned) in 4.2 innings. His struggles lately have bloated his ratios to a 9.64 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 9.1 innings overall. Camilo Doval seems likely to continue getting most of the save opportunities.

Impact The left-hander had Colorado batters on their toes throughout the contest, racking up 23 swinging strikes and tying a season high with 12 punchouts. He gave up a pair of runs in the fifth inning but didn't allow any extra-base hits and kept the Rockies off the scoreboard in each of his other five frames. Rodon's ERA actually increased to 1.80 despite the quality start, and he pushed his record to 4-1 on the campaign. He has been everything the Giants hoped he would be when acquiring him in the offseason, as he leads MLB with 53 strikeouts while stepping into the ace role on the staff. He'll look to keep rolling in a projected start in St. Louis this weekend.

Impact Wade's first hit of the season was a second-inning homer off Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson. This was just the third game of the year (second start) for Wade, who began the season on the injured list with a knee injury that had kept him out of action since March 28. The 28-year-old has made both of his starts in right field, though manager Gabe Kapler is understandably being cautious with him after his month-long layoff. Expect Wade to be in the lineup against most right-handed pitchers, though he could settle into a bench role when opponents have a southpaw starting on the mound.
