Sam Long - Tosses clean frame Long allowed one hit and struck out one in one scoreless inning Monday night against Milwaukee. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Long did his job as the opener, escaping the first inning without any damage after allowing an infield single to Christian Yelich. Long has fared well in the opener role, hurling three scoreless frames in two opportunities. The southpaw has yet to allow a run through 5.2 innings, striking out five and walking one over that stretch.

Impact Cobb threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Monday but was only throwing at 70 percent intensity. Whie the session seemingly went well, he'll need to throw at full capacity before the Giants are comfortable activating him. He's eligible to return Saturday, but it looks as though he may need at least a few extra days.

Impact DeSclafani visited an ankle specialist Monday and underwent an MRI, but the test didn't reveal anything more than the inflammation he'd already been diagnosed with. He won't throw for another week and will have to get back up to speed at that point, but he's at least avoided a more serious diagnosis.

LaMonte Wade Jr. - Making another rehab appearance Wade (knee) is expected to play five innings in a rehab game at Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact Wade began his rehab assignment in Sacramento on Saturday and went 0-for-2 with a run and a walk. Although he isn't expected to play a full game Tuesday, he seems to be making good progress in his recovery and should be in the mix to rejoin the Giants sometime this week or during their weekend series against the Nationals.

Evan Longoria - Increases hitting program Longoria (finger) has started to increase his hitting progression, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact Longoria began his hitting progression approximately a week ago after participating in limited baseball activities before then. The 36-year-old certainly appears to be trending in the right direction, but he doesn't yet have a timetable to return from the 10-day injured list.

Tommy La Stella - Ramps up running intensity La Stella (Achilles) has ramped up his running intensity recently, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact La Stella resumed baseball activities approximately two weeks ago, and it's encouraging that he's now been able to increase his running intensity. The Giants haven't yet provided a timetable for the 33-year-old's return to game action, but it's possible he'll require a rehab assignment since he was also limited during spring training.

Anthony DeSclafani - Visiting ankle specialist DeSclafani (ankle) is visiting an ankle specialist, Dr. Robert Anderson, Monday in Green Bay, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact The right-hander was placed on the injured list with right ankle inflammation Friday and will head up to Green Bay with the Giants in Milwaukee for one game. DeSclafani battled the same injury during 2021, and his fastball velocity this season was down about two mph before landing on the shelf. The 32-year-old remains without an official timeline for his return, though that could come into focus following Monday's evaluation.

Impact Casali has now picked up five starts behind the plate over the Giants' last 10 games, with nominal No. 1 catcher Joey Bart receiving the same workload. Manager Gabe Kapler hasn't suggested that the two backstops will be deployed in a timeshare all season, but Casali at least looks as though he'll play more frequently than the typical No. 2 catcher. Casali has yet to offer much from a fantasy perspective this season, as he enters Monday's game with a .158/.200/.211 slash line and 45 percent strikeout rate across 20 plate appearances.

Impact While he recovered from a shoulder injury, Walker hadn't pitched in affiliated ball since 2019 before he made a two-inning rehab appearance at Single-A on April 15. After checking out fine following that outing, Walker was activated from Sacramento's 7-day injured list last Tuesday. The right-hander -- who previously made six big-league appearances with Atlanta in 2019 -- is expected to spend the majority of the 2022 campaign with the Giants' Triple-A affiliate.
