Jorge Soler - Drives in three Soler went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored during Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

Impact Soler notched his first three-RBI game of the campaign Wednesday, getting the Giants on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the fifth, plating Lamont Wade on a weak groundout to bring the team to within one in the eighth inning and putting San Francisco up 7-5 in the tenth with an RBI single. In five games since returning from a shoulder injury, Soler is 6-for-22 (.273) with four runs scored and five RBI.

Matt Chapman - Swats another homer Chapman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional run during Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

Impact The 31-year-old tagged Jared Jones for a two-run home run in the sixth inning, Chapman's second straight game with a long ball. He's been red-hot in his last five games, going 11-for-18 (.611) with seven extra-base hits, 10 runs, five RBI and two stolen bases.

Blake Snell - Loses control in fourth Snell didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

Impact Snell looked sharp to begin his first start after a month-long IL stint, keeping the Pirates scoreless after three frames. However, the 31-year-old crumbled in the fourth inning, yielding two walks, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single to let a run score and leave the bases loaded with one out for Sean Hjelle. Hjelle gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced and pushed Snell's earned run total to four. Snell hasn't completed five innings in a start this season and is 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA through 15.0 innings. He's projected for a home start against the Phillies on Monday.

Nick Avila - Demoted to minors The Giants optioned Avila to Double-A Richmond on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Impact Avila is being sent to Richmond rather than Triple-A Sacramento because the Giants are on the East Coast and may need to recall Avila if Blake Snell goes on the paternity list. The reliever holds a 9.31 ERA over 9.2 innings with the Giants this season.

Blake Snell - Activated for Wednesday start The Giants activated Snell (adductor) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Impact Snell will rejoin the rotation Wednesday after completing his recovery from a Grade 2 adductor strain. The left-hander posted an 11.57 ERA in his first three starts with the Giants this season but looked sharp during two rehab outings, not allowing a hit or a run while collecting a 17:1 K:BB in nine innings. He threw just 60 pitches in his most recent rehab outing Friday, so Snell's workload could be relatively limited Wednesday. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Snell could go on paternity leave after Wednesday's outing, but in such a scenario, he should be back in time to make his next start.

Curt Casali - Moving to bench with Bailey back Casali is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Casali had started behind the plate in each of the previous three games, but he'll likely see his opportunities dwindle after Patrick Bailey (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday. The journeyman backstop has fared well through the first four starts of his second stint with the Giants, going 4-for-16 with four walks, three runs and two RBI.

Impact Luciano will pick up his fifth straight start after going 6-for-15 with two doubles, two walks, four runs and one RBI over the previous four contests. He should continue to hold down a regular role at shortstop while Nick Ahmed (wrist) is on the shelf, and Luciano may keep the job once Ahmed is healthy if he can continue to produce at the plate.

Matt Chapman - Lifts homer in loss Chapman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Impact Chapman has gone 16-for-43 (.372) with eight extra-base hits and eight RBI over his last 11 games. The third baseman's homer Tuesday gave the Giants a 5-2 lead in the seventh inning. He's up to six long balls, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored, 13 doubles and five stolen bases while slashing .243/.303/.411 over 48 contests. While his .714 OPS is notably down from last year, he seems to have turned a corner in May by batting .279 after hitting just .212 in April.

Thairo Estrada - Homers in Tuesday's loss Estrada went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Impact Estrada has two homers and eight RBI while batting .333 (7-for-21) over his last five games. The second baseman is up to a .250/.275/.444 slash line with eight homers, 29 RBI, 26 runs scored and one stolen base through 48 contests. He's easily on pace to surpass the 14 homers he hit in each of the last two years, though his increased power has come with the small price of less contact and slightly poorer plate discipline -- he's posted a 3.2 percent walk rate, his lowest in four years as a Giant.

Erik Miller - Handed loss Tuesday Miller (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the extra-inning loss Tuesday versus the Pirates.

Impact Miller gave up a walk-off single to Nick Gonzales in the 10th inning after the duo of Luke Jackson and Camilo Doval gave away a four-run lead in the ninth. This was the first time in May that Miller gave up a run without surrendering a homer. The southpaw has allowed four runs (three earned) with an 11:8 K:BB over nine innings this month, and he's at a mediocre 4.50 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB through 22 innings overall. Miller has also added eight holds and taken two blown saves.

Impact The Giants rolled into the ninth inning with a 6-2 lead, but after Luke Jackson put two runners aboard with one out, Doval got the call and coaxed a potential double-play grounder from Andrew McCutchen, only for Marco Luciano to boot it and pave the way for a Pirates rally. Doval's control has taken a step backward this season, as he has a 15.7 percent walk rate compared to a 9.3 percent mark in 2023, but he still carries a 2.89 ERA to go with his 1.45 WHIP, 25:13 K:BB through 18.2 innings and eight saves.
