ImpactSmith (undisclosed), who was activated from the COVID-19 injured list earlier in the day, stroked a two-run single in the first inning and added an RBI single in the third for his first multi-RBI game since June 16. The 25-year-old Smith has established himself as a regular in the Arizona lineup, slashing .271/.331/.422 with nine home runs and 35 RBI in 384 plate appearances. He's added 20 doubles and three triples.

ImpactBryant got the start in center field and produced his first multi-hit effort since being acquired from the Cubs at the trade deadline. ImpactClippard relieved Taylor Clarke in the ninth inning with the Diamondbacks leading 4-1, and he allowed a pair of inherited runners to score before yielding the game-tying single to LaMonte Wade. It was the first blown save of the year for Clippard, who took over closer duties in the wake of Joakim Soria's trade to Toronto. The 36-year-old Clippard has a 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a pair of saves in seven innings this season.
