Donovan Walton - Out until MayWalton underwent shoulder surgery during the offseason and isn't expected to return until May, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ImpactThe Giants opted not to tender Walton a contract for 2023 early in the offseason, though the club re-signed him on a minor-league deal a few weeks later. The 28-year-old missed most of the second half of last season due to shoulder inflammation that apparently required offseason surgery. Walton could fill a utility role for San Francisco later in the season, but he'll likely need to earn a promotion with strong play at Triple-A Sacramento once healthy.

Dansby Swanson - Hitless in team debutSwanson went 0-for-2 in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Giants.
ImpactSwanson was playing in his first spring training game with the Cubs after agreeing to a seven-year, $177 million deal in the offseason. His exhibition stats won't matter much, as the team simply wants to get him to the regular season healthy and comfortable with his new teammates. Swanson should be Chicago's everyday shortstop, with Nico Hoerner shifting over to second base.

David Bote - Goes deep SaturdayBote went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Giants.
ImpactBote got his spring training schedule off to a strong start with the long ball. The veteran utility player may not be in the Cubs' plans this year as he's no longer on the 40-man roster. The additions of Dansby Swanson, Cody Bellinger, Eric Hosmer and Trey Mancini in the offseason have crowded the picture. Bote would likely need injuries ahead of him to see any meaningful playing time this season.

Trey Mancini - Two hits in team debutMancini went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Giants.
ImpactMancini looked good in his first game with the Cubs. The veteran was brought over in the offseason to likely fill the DH role most days, though he could also see some time at first base. Mancini had a down year with a career-worst .710 OPS in 2022, but he still hit 18 home runs to go along with 63 RBI.

Adrian Sampson - Struggles in spring debutSampson allowed four runs on three hits across 1.2 innings in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Giants. He walked one and struck out one.
ImpactAll three hits allowed by Sampson left the yard, giving the righty a rough line in his spring debut. Sampson is in contention for the Cubs' fifth starter spot along with the likes of Hayden Wesneski and Javier Assad, so he'll need better performances moving forward to stick in the rotation to begin the season.

Logan Webb - Spring debut coming MondayWebb (back) will start Monday's spring game against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ImpactThe right-hander missed his final start of 2022 due to back stiffness, but it appears he's ready for the start of spring games. Webb will open 2023 as San Francisco's ace after he posted a 2.90 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 163:49 K:BB across a career-high 192.1 innings last year.

Wilmer Flores - Arrives to campFlores (personal) reported to the Giants' spring training facility in Arizona on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactFlores spent the past few days with his family following the birth of his son Thursday, but he's now in camp having missed minimal time. The 31-year-old had a .229/.316/.394 slash line with 19 home runs in 602 plate appearances last season, and he shouldn't have any issues being ready in time for Opening Day.
