Logan Webb - Named Opening Day starterWebb was officially named the Giants' Opening Day starter Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
ImpactIt's been quite a quick rise for the 25-year-old righty, who wasn't particularly highly thought of heading into last season but finished the year with a 3.03 ERA. That number was backed by the rare combination of an elite 60.9 percent groundball rate and an above-average 26.5 percent strikeout rate. Webb will take the ball April 8 at home against Miami and will be lined up to take the ball the following week against the Padres, also at home.

LaMonte Wade Jr. - Exits with apparent injuryWade was removed from Monday's Cactus League game against the Brewers with an apparent lower-body injury, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactWade appeared to tweak something while he was running to second base on his first-inning double. Though he was able to stay in the game for the rest of the Giants' turn at bat, Wade looked to be limping as he went back to the dugout and then didn't play the field for the bottom of the first inning. The Giants will likely provide an update on the nature and extent of his injury after the game.

Davis Daniel - Sent back to minor-league campThe Angels reassigned Daniel to their minor-league camp Monday.
ImpactThough he netted an invitation for big-league camp, Daniel wasn't a realistic candidate to break camp with the Angels with a number of other pitchers ahead of him in the pecking order for back-end spots in the club's six-man rotation. Still, Daniel will be a pitcher worth tracking as he likely heads back to Triple-A Salt Lake to begin 2022. Though his initial taste of the Triple-A level didn't go well last season -- he gave up 24 earned runs on 37 hits (including seven home runs) over 21 innings -- the 24-year-old righty was dominant for Double-A Rocket City (2.68 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 66:8 K:BB in 47 frames) prior to his promotion to Salt Lake.

Kean Wong - Won't make Opening Day rosterThe Angels reassigned Wong to their minor-league camp Monday.
ImpactWong received 66 plate appearances over 32 games with the Angels in 2021, but he won't break camp with the big club this season after re-signing with Los Angeles this offseason on a minor-league deal. The 27-year-old is expected to fill a utility role at Triple-A Salt Lake for the majority of the upcoming season, though his versatility could make him an option for a call-up if the Angels' infield or outfield depth is tested at any point.
