Jake McGee - Tabbed as head of committeeMcGee will enter the year as the Giants' closer, according to manager Gabe Kapler in an interview on KNBR. "Right now, if we were starting on Opening Day, Jake McGee would be our c...
ImpactKapler went on to say that the Giants don't need to identify firm bullpen roles, mentioning Tyler Rogers and Camilo Doval as other candidates for saves this season. It sounds like this will be a committee, with McGee leading the way in projected opportunities, although the situation is obviously fluid.

Tommy La Stella - Running at about 80 percentGiants manager Gabe Kapler said Tuesday that La Stella is running at about 80 percent speed as the 33-year-old works his way back from October surgery to repair his left Achilles'...
ImpactLa Stella is making his Cactus League debut Tuesday against the Padres, batting second while serving as the Giants' designated hitter. He may end up being limited to DH duties for the remainder of the spring schedule while he works his way closer to 100 percent speed and incorporates more change-of-direction running into his training regimen, which is likely the final hurdle he needs to clear before he gets the green light to play the infield. While the possibility of La Stella not being cleared to play defense by Opening Day would normally make him a candidate to begin the season on the injured list, the implementation of the universal DH boosts his odds of breaking camp with the big club, as do the injuries to Evan Longoria (finger) and LaMonte Wade (knee).

Brandon Belt - On track for Opening DayGiants manager Gabe Kapler said Tuesday that Belt (knee) remains on track to be ready for Opening Day "for now," Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
ImpactBelt has dealt with knee inflammation this spring and hasn't gotten into a Cactus League game, but he's been able to participate fully in workouts. He won't get to face much live pitching unless he returns to game action soon, but the Giants seem fairly confident in his readiness nonetheless. Injuries will remain a concern for the veteran throughout the year, as he's played 112 or fewer games in three of the last four full seasons, but he's a good bet to produce strong numbers when healthy. He homered 29 times in 97 games last season while slashing .274/.378/.597.

Wilmer Flores - Set for starting role at third baseFlores is expected to be the Giants' starting third baseman after Evan Longoria (finger) was ruled out for Opening Day, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ImpactFlores is a natural third baseman and the next in line at the hot corner. The 30-year-old played all around the infield last season as a versatile defender. He hit a decent .262/.335/.447 with 18 home runs, 53 RBI and 57 runs scored in 139 contests in 2021. It's unclear how long Flores could hold onto an everyday role given the murky timeline of Longoria's recovery.
