Tommy La Stella - Status uncertainLa Stella (Achilles) will receive treatment Tuesday after being scratched from a scheduled Cactus League start, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ImpactLa Stella underwent surgery on his Achilles in October and has been brought along slowly this spring. Previous reports indicated he'd be ready for Opening Day, but that's in some doubt after he wasn't ready to play Tuesday. He's still considered day-to-day for now, so his status for the start of the season will depend on how his Achilles responds to treatment.

James Kaprielian - Faces hittersKaprielian (shoulder) faced hitters Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ImpactKaprielian will miss the start of the season while recovering from AC joint irritation, but he's taking steps in the right direction and could be ready to go before the end of April. He threw 30 pitches Tuesday, with his fastball sitting between 93 and 95 miles per hour.

Sam Long - Struggles in springLong has allowed five runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts across 4.2 innings in three Cactus League games.
ImpactLong made a solid impression Monday versus the Athletics with a perfect inning. He's been hit by the long ball, allowing two home runs in his three appearances. The southpaw is still viewed as a starter by the Giants, but it's possible he could serve as a multi-inning reliever early in the season -- the five-man rotation is locked in but will still need to stretch out in the first few weeks.

Tommy La Stella - Not making scheduled startLa Stella (Achilles) will not start Tuesday's game against the Athletics despite previous expectations that he would, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ImpactLa Stella has been delayed this spring as he builds up cautiously following October Achilles surgery. He was expected to test his Achilles one final time Tuesday prior to the start of the regular season, so the fact that he's not included in the lineup nor on the list of available bench players is worrisome. It's unclear if a trip to the injured list might be in play for him to start the season.
