José Álvarez - MRI results encouragingAlvarez (elbow) underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed inflammation, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ImpactThe Giants feared that Alvarez was dealing with ligament damage in his elbow, but he's expected to miss only two or three weeks after receiving the results of his MRI. The southpaw will likely be in the mix to rejoin San Francisco's bullpen in late July or early August.

Jakob Junis - Slated for rehab start MondayJunis (hamstring) will make a rehab start with the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ImpactJunis threw two innings in a rehab start Thursday and will make another appearance with the rookie-level affiliate Monday. The Giants haven't yet revealed when the right-hander will be able to return, but he should be out through the All-Star break if he requires another rehab appearance following Monday's outing.

ImpactWelker underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in June and was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Wednesday. He'll find a new organization with the Giants, who recalled him and placed him on the 60-day injured list Friday. It's not yet clear whether the 24-year-old will be available for spring training in 2023.
