Impact Brown joined the Oakland home-run brigade, clubbing two of the eight long balls launched by the A's on Sunday. It was the third start for Brown since returning from a two-week stint in the minors. Brown was batting .189 and had collected just five homers prior to being sent down but caught fire following his demotion, batting .403 with seven homers and 24 RBI during the 16-games he spent down on the farm.

Impact Though he'll likely be excluded from the lineup when the Athletics face southpaws, the lefty-hitting Brown seems to have taken on a regular role as the team's primary first baseman following his promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday. He's now started in three of the Athletics' ensuing four games following his promotion and has gone 2-for-8 with a double and an RBI. Brown's run of steady playing time will likely come to an end once Tyler Soderstrom (wrist) is ready to return from the injured list.

Singles in big-league return Brown, recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day, started in right field in Thursday's 7-0 loss to the Red Sox and went 1-for-3.

Impact Brown had been swinging a blistering bat with the Aviators, so his ability to carry that over in even a modest fashion during his return to the Athletics is encouraging. The slugging outfielder endured a nightmarish 63-game stint with Oakland from Opening Day to June 16, generating a .189 average, .557 OPS and career-high 33.8 percent strikeout rate across 195 plate appearances.

Impact With Tyler Soderstrom (wrist) headed for the injured list, Brown will now rejoin the A's in order to add depth to the team's big-league outfield unit. Since being outrighted to Las Vegas in June, the 31-year-old has slashed an incredible .403/.416/.736 with seven homers and 24 RBI over 77 plate appearances. It's possible Oakland works him into their lineup over the next several days in order to take advantage of his hot bat.

Outrighted to Las Vegas The Athletics outrighted Brown to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Impact Brown has started nearly every game for the A's this season, but he will be jettisoned off the 40-man roster and back to Triple-A after putting up just a .557 OPS through 195 plate appearances. The 31-year-old outfielder will remain within the organization, but his bat will presumably need to come alive in the minors for him to have any chance at returning to Oakland later this year. Lawrence Butler was recalled from Las Vegas in a corresponding move.
