Impact The 25-year-old flamethrower was outstanding in this 96-pitch performance, generating an impressive 18 whiffs -- with 10 alone coming on his fastball -- en route to his six punchouts. All the damage Boston was able to impart on Baz came via a Triston Casas two-run homer in the second inning. This marks the fifth consecutive outing in which Baz has yielded two or fewer runs, as he's pitched to a 2.03 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB over 31 innings during that span. He is scheduled to make his next start against Toronto at home this weekend.

Impact Baz allowed solo homers to Austin Wells and Juan Soto in the second and third innings, respectively, but entered the fifth holding a 5-2 lead.
