Impact The rehab outing marked Bieber's first start in affiliated ball since June 13, when he pitched through a right shoulder strain that has kept him on the shelf for the past three months. Even though Cleveland is essentially eliminated from playoff contention at this point, Bieber appears to be gearing up for a late-season return to the big club. Cleveland hasn't provided an indication on the next step for Bieber, but he'll likely need at least one more rehab start before slotting back into the big-league rotation. Bieber could have his workload capped once he returns, potentially limiting the appeal of stashing him until he's activated from the 60-day injured list.

Impact Bieber has been out for nearly three months with a strained right shoulder. Given the lengthy absence, he'll likely need more than one rehab start before he is cleared to rejoin Cleveland's rotation. It's unclear if he'll be able to do so before the end of the regular season. Even if the right-hander can get back to the big leagues in time, he probably won't be able to take on a full starter's workload.
