Impact Long drew a walk and stole second in the third inning before coming around to score when Kyle Seager grounded into a bases-loaded double play. Long now has two steals and two runs scored in four games while batting at the top of the Mariners' order. The second baseman has also amassed six strikeouts in 18 plate appearances (33.3 percent).

Impact Long's final line was one befitting of his leadoff role, as he played a key role in the Mariners' first win of the campaign. The promising second baseman's eighth-inning two-bagger brought home Tim Lopes to knot the score back up at 5-5, and Long subsequently came home with Seattle's final run of the day on Kyle Lewis' single later in the frame. Long's first multi-hit effort of the season was a much-needed breakout after he went just 1-for-8 with two strikeouts over the first two games of the season.

Impact Gordon was part of the morning session and stepped into the box against Justin Dunn, whom he promptly lined a single against in his first at-bat. The veteran infielder is projected to serve in a reserve capacity behind Shed Long at second base during the shortened 2020 season, but his ability to also fill in at shortstop and even center field could potentially lead to a serviceable amount of playing time.

To get thorough evaluation in '20 Long is one of the Mariners' many young players that should get an extensive evaluation during the 2020 season, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Impact Long was projected as the everyday second baseman when spring training was suspended, and he'll therefore head into the team's summer camp with the same status. The 24-year-old had a rough time of it at the plate during Cactus League play, hitting just .129 (4-for-31) over 11 exhibitions. However, this coming season, albeit a much shorter one than normal, will still serve as a proving ground for multiple young prospects in the organization, and Long should get an extensive look after posting a solid .263/.333/.454 slash over his first big-league 168 plate appearances in 2019.
