ImpactKohl Stewart was demoted after a rough start Friday, leaving a gap in the Cubs' rotation in the short term. Trevor Williams (abdomen) and Adbert Alzolay (finger) could return in the not-so-distant future, so this could be just a spot start for Mills. He threw six shutout innings with four strikeouts at Triple-A on June 2, so Mills could conceivably go deep enough to qualify for the win.

ImpactHis ERA shot to 5.68 after giving up five earned runs in four innings Friday against the Cardinals. Stewart could return to the big-league rotation later this summer if he can show some improvement at Triple-A. ImpactCabrera got himself into immediate trouble upon entering in the seventh, allowing two of the first three hitters to reach safely before yielding a two-run double to Joc Pederson.
