Tommy Edman - MRI clean on wristAn MRI taken Thursday on Edman's right wrist showed no structural damage, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
ImpactEdman was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday after experiencing pain in his wrist during pregame batting practice, but it might have just been a stinger. He's not starting Thursday's series finale against the Marlins and likely won't be used off the bench, but the versatile 28-year-old will presumably be able to return this weekend versus the White Sox.

Steven Matz - Will get start SundayMatz will start for the Cardinals on Sunday against the White Sox, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
ImpactThat would have been Matthew Liberatore's turn, but he was optioned back to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday. Matz has pitched a little better since being moved to the bullpen in late May, though there's not much fantasy appeal here -- no matter the role.

Jonathan Davis - To miss 3-to-6 monthsMarlins manager Skip Schumaker said Thursday that Davis (knee) will be sidelined 3-to-6 months, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactDavis underwent surgery Thursday after damaging his right meniscus while trying to make a diving catch Tuesday against the Cardinals. He had been in line for regular starts in center field with Jazz Chisholm (oblique) landing back on the injured list Monday, but Davis can now probably be ruled out until at least mid-September. The 31-year-old was slashing .244/.307/.378 with two home runs and one stolen base through 34 major-league games this season.

Paul Goldschmidt - Sitting ThursdayGoldschmidt isn't in the Cardinals' lineup Thursday against Miami, Bally Sports Midwest reports.
ImpactGoldschmidt will get a rare day off Thursday after beginning July with a .261/.308/.391 slash line through 26 plate appearances. Alec Burleson will fill in at first base in Goldschmidt's place and bat seventh.

Tommy Edman - Out due to wrist painEdman (wrist) is not in the lineup Thursday at Miami.
ImpactEdman told John Denton of MLB.com that he felt intense pain in his right wrist while taking pregame batting practice Wednesday, which prompted the Cardinals to scratch him from the starting lineup about 20 minutes before first pitch. It sounds like something that might require a stint on the injured list, but Edman remains part of the active roster for now. Dylan Carlson will play center field Thursday in Miami and Paul DeJong is at shortstop.
