Giants vs. Cardinals Prediction, Odds, Picks - June 20
Adam Kloffenstein - Headed to majorsThe Cardinals will recall Kloffenstein from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
ImpactKloffenstein has spent all season with Memphis, posting a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 77 innings across 14 starts. Although he has been used almost exclusively as a starter throughout his minor-league career, he will likely be used as a multi-inning reliever while with St. Louis. The 23-year-old righty will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

Bryan De La Cruz - Goes deep in winDe La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 win over St. Louis.
ImpactDe La Cruz led off the contest with a 429-foot solo shot off Matthew Liberatore. The 27-year-old outfielder has gone 4-for-14 with a pair of homers in his last three games -- De La Cruz is up to 13 long balls this year, putting him well on pace to surpass his career high of 19. Overall, he's slashing .245/.296/.424 with 34 RBI and 34 runs scored across 314 plate appearances this season.

Nolan Gorman - Homers WednesdayGorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.
ImpactGorman led off the second inning with a 436-foot blast off Yonny Chirinos, cutting St. Louis' deficit to 2-1. It's the first homer in seven games for Gorman, who'd gone just 1-for-28 in that span. Overall, the 24-year-old second baseman is slashing .202/.278/.437 with 16 homers, 34 RBI, 31 runs scored and three steals across 67 games this year.
JUNE 19ROTOWIRE
Yonny Chirinos - Solid in Marlins debutChirinos didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs on eight hits over five innings. He struck out six.
ImpactBoth runs against Chirinos came in the second inning where he allowed four straight hits to lead off the frame, including a Nolan Gorman homer. Otherwise, the 30-year-old right-hander was sharp in his 2024 debut, putting the Marlins in position for an eventual 4-3 victory. Chirinos pitched to a 5.40 ERA across 85 innings between Atlanta and Tampa Bay last season, though he pitched well with Triple-A Jacksonville this year, posting a 3.00 ERA over 12 starts. With Miami still dealing with a rash of injuries to their starting pitchers, Chirinos could warrant a longer look in the rotation. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Royals early next week.

Nolan Arenado - Aiming for Saturday returnArenado (elbow) said after Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins that he expects to return to the lineup Saturday versus the Giants in St. Louis, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.
ImpactArenado was lifted for a pinch runner in the top of the eighth inning after he took a 94 mile-per-hour sinker to his right elbow in his fourth plate appearance of the afternoon. Before departing, Arenado went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Though Arenado has been diagnosed with a bruised right elbow after initial X-rays returned negative, he noted that the pitch hit him in a nerve in the elbow that caused his hand to cramp up. Based on his postgame comments, Arenado already seems to be ruling himself out for Thursday's series opener with the Giants at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., but he's counting on being ready to go coming out of Friday's off day.
