Yerry De Los Santos - Called up by PiratesDe Los Santos had his contract selected by the Pirates on Sunday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ImpactDe Los Santos began the season at Triple-A Indianapolis and posted a 1.72 ERA and 0.64 WHIP in 15.2 innings over 12 relief appearances. The 24-year-old hasn't yet made a major-league appearance but should provide a boost to the Pirates' bullpen. If he remains effective in the big leagues, it's possible that De Los Santos will work his way into some high-leverage work at some point.

Roansy Contreras - Called up by PiratesContreras was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ImpactContreras made three relief appearances for the Pirates in April, and he posted a 3.52 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 7.2 innings during that time. However, he's been building up as a starter in Indianapolis, and he's recorded a 2.66 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 20.1 innings over five minor-league starts. The Pirates' rotation is healthy but has had some struggles recently, so it seems likely that Contreras will join the rotation after working as a starter in the minors.

Between his two minor-league stops this season, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 first-year player draft was batting .333 with 10 extra-base hits and five stolen bases over 108 plate appearances.
