Alec Burleson - Informed he'll make rosterBurleson has been informed he'll make the Opening Day roster for the Cardinals, MLB Pipeline reports.
ImpactBurleson and Jordan Walker have both swung their way onto the Opening Day roster for the reigning NL Central champions. The 24-year-old Burleson has registered a .744 OPS with a home run over his 61 plate appearances, and also shown the ability to help out at multiple positions. Burleson may not have a starting role to begin the 2023 campaign with the Cardinals, but he has a chance to hit his way into regular playing time to begin the new year.

Jordan Walker - Will be on Opening Day rosterCardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak told reporters that Walker will be a part of the Opening Day roster for St. Louis, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Disp...
ImpactIt's no longer a big surprise, but still exciting news. Walker is widely considered one of the top hitting prospects in the sport, and in his first 62 plate appearances of the Grapefruit League he's hit .295 with three home runs while stealing two bases. If there's one concern it's that Walker hasn't shown much patience at the plate in Florida as seen in a .306 on-base percentage and 1:13 BB/K, but his power with an ability to make hard contact all over the field has been readily apparent. Even with some likely highs and lows in his rookie campaign as a 20-year-old, Walker is well worth a roster spot in any league he's eligible in.

Matt Adams - Doesn't win jobAdams will not be on the Nationals' Opening Day roster, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
ImpactAdams posted an .871 OPS in 19 games this spring, though he also struck out 10 times without recording a single walk. The veteran didn't fit what the Nationals wanted in a bench spot, and it remains unclear if he'll find his way back to the majors for the first time since July of 2021.

Wily Peralta - Reassigned to minor-league campPeralta was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Nationals on Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactPeralta was signed to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training by the Nationals at the end of January. He really struggled for most of his Grapefruit League appearances as seen in an 11.17 ERA, 2.48 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB. The right-hander could have an opt-out in his deal, so he may have to decide if he wants to head to Triple-A Rocester or test the waters of free agency.

Alex Colomé - Sent to minor-league campColome was assigned to minor-league camp on Saturday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
ImpactColome could theoretically have earned save chances in Washington this season with the team open to using Kyle Finnegan in more of a fireman role, but instead, the veteran won't even earn a roster spot. He didn't help his case this spring, posting a 5.59 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 7:7 K:BB in 9.2 innings.

Andres Machado - Reassigned to MiLB campMachado was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Nationals on Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactMachado was attempting to win a spot in the Washington bullpen, but at least to begin 2023, he's going to head to the minors instead. The 29-year-old will likely operate out of the bullpen for Triple-A Rochester.
