Notches second save Crichton earned the save against the Angels on Tuesday, inducing three flyball outs in a perfect ninth inning.

Impact Crichton was tasked with protecting a one-run lead against the heart of the Angels lineup -- Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon and Albert Pujols -- and came through by retiring all three batters. It was the second straight successful save conversion for Crichton, who appears to have seized control of the closer role for the Diamondbacks. The right-hander has posted a 2.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB over 22.2 innings this season.

Impact With the Diamondbacks leading by one in the ninth inning, Alex Young returned to continue his long relief outing. After recording the first out of the frame, Arizona turned to Crichton to finish things off, which he did with ease, striking out Evan White and forcing Luis Torrens to ground out. It was the first save of the season for the 28-year-old, who sports a 2.91 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 21 appearances. With their recent ninth-inning struggles, the Diamondbacks appear to be using a closer-by-committee approach for the time being.

Impact Crichton put two runners on in the eighth inning, and reliever Archie Bradley allowed both of them to score, which gave the Giants a lead they wouldn't relinquish. It's the second time in three appearances Crichton has recorded just one out while allowing a pair of runs. Impact Crichton came into the game in the top of the ninth with the game tied 3-3, and he only needed five pitches -- four strikes -- to get the three outs. David Peralta delivered a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth and, as such, Crichton earned his second win of the season. He has not allowed runs in any of his last four appearances while fanning five and walking two in 5.2 innings during that stretch.
