Impact Duggar was claimed off waivers by the Angels in early August, but he hit just .053 with a triple, three runs, three walks and 13 strikeouts over nine games with the big-league club. He'll head to the minors since Mike Trout (ribs) expects to rejoin the Angels on Friday.

Impact Duggar will get his third straight start in left field while Jo Adell (thumb) remains day-to-day. In the first two contests of the series, Duggar went hitless with six strikeouts in eight at-bats. Since being claimed off waivers from the Rangers on Aug. 7, Duggar has begun his tenure with the Angels by going 1-for-16 with a 55.6 percent strikeout rate.

Impact Since Duggar was playing with the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate prior to being designated for assignment Thursday, he won't immediately have to go on the Angels' 26-man active roster. That being said, Duggar looks primed to receive a call-up ahead of the Angels' series opener in Oakland on Monday, when Mickey Moniak is expected to be go on the injured list with a broken left middle finger, which could keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. Duggar, who owns a .240/.296/.373 slash line in 824 career MLB plate appearances with the Giants and Rangers, could challenge Magneuris Sierra for the everyday role in center field while Moniak is out indefinitely.

Prior to the trade, the 28-year-old hadn't played for the Giants since April 21 after being shut down with a left oblique strain, but he's back to full health again after turning in a .550 OPS over his 14-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento. Duggar may have to initially settle for a reserve role in the Texas outfield, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Rangers gave him a look as their primary option in center field at some point.

Impact Duggar played in just 12 games this year before hitting the 60-day injured list with a left oblique strain. He's spent the maximum amount of time on his rehab assignment, struggling ot a .550 OPS in 14 games, so the Giants had to make a decision on his future. That decision turned out to be a trade rather than a return to the active roster, though he'll presumably join the Rangers' big-league squad shortly. Duggar gives his new team a good glove in center field but hasn't done much at the plate across parts of five seasons in the majors, hitting a modest .242/.297/.377. That may leave him stuck as the fourth outfielder in Texas, though beating out Leody Taveras for at-bats may not be particularly hard.
