Impact Feyereisen threw a bullpen session Friday and will continue ramping up his activity. He has been sidelined since June 3 and will likely require at least a brief rehab assignment before being activated. Prior to going down, Feyereisen had tallied a save and seven holds, so he will likely fit back into high-leverage situations prior to the close of the campaign.

Shane McClanahan - Strikes out eight batters McClanahan did not factor into the decision against the Royals on Friday, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out eight and walking three over seven innings.

Impact After posting an ERA under two until July 26, McClanahan has seemed like a mere mortal since. From that point on, he has allowed 13 earned runs across 23.2 innings for a 5.04 ERA. McClanahan picked up a quality start in Friday's contest, his 16th of the season. The lefty threw 90 pitches (56 for strikes) in the game and does not appear to be limited by the management in Tampa, which is typically conservative with young pitchers.

Impact Feyereisen has been on the injured list with a shoulder issue since early June but said after Friday's throwing session that his shoulder feels good. The right-hander will presumably require a rehab assignment at some point and hopes to rejoin the Rays around mid-September.
