Impact Boyle was relatively impressive in the Grapefruit League this spring, turning in a 3.52 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with a 21:10 K:BB over 15.1 innings. However, because the 25-year-old righty finished last season with a 6.42 ERA and 1.72 WHIP, the Rays would presumably like to see Boyle maintain that success over a longer period of time before giving him a spot on their MLB roster.

Impact McClanahan was in visible pain after making a pitch in the third inning of Saturday's contest, immediately calling for a trainer to pull him from the game. The 27-year-old lefty will undergo imaging on his triceps Sunday, at which point we'll have a better idea of his chances to start the Rays' season opener Friday against the Rockies.

Impact McClanahan immediately motioned to the Rays' dugout after making a pitch in the third inning and looked to be in quite a bit of pain. It's unknown exactly what he's dealing with at the moment, but the Rays will take a look at their Opening Day starter and should provide an update in the near future.

Impact Jansen has had a really nice spring thus far, going 8-for-25 with two homers, four RBI and six runs scored in 11 games, though he hasn't played since Wednesday. Manager Kevin Cash said Saturday that the Rays hope to get Jansen into one of their final two spring training games, so it doesn't seem that the backstop's injury is anything significant.

Impact Cash noted that while Jimenez's bat "started to come to life" recently during Grapefruit League play, it's not going to be enough to crack the Opening Day roster. Jimenez -- who is on a minor-league contract -- will begin the season at Triple-A Durham and "could be huge for us at any point during the season," per Cash.

Impact Mead has been one of the best performers during Grapefruit League play, going an absurd 19-for-35 with one home run in 13 contests. Once the regular season begins, much of Mead's playing time likely will come versus left-handed pitching, although he could play his way into at-bats against righties, too, if he's able to carry over his performance from this spring. The 24-year-old has just a 78 wRC+ across 224 big-league plate appearances.
