Impresses in spring debutCastillo fired a scoreless second inning during his Grapefruit League debut against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing one hit and no walks.
ImpactAlthough the right-hander didn't record any strikeouts, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports Castillo's fastball consistently hit 94 mph and ticked up as high as 96. Castillo should see plenty of save opportunities this coming season with the offseason departure of Jose Alvarado, and he's lent credence to the notion he's up to the task by converting 12 of 15 save chances over the last two seasons and posting a career-best 1.66 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 21.2 innings (22 appearances) in 2020.

Struggles in debutHill allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits, two walks and a wild pitch across one inning in a Grapefruit League loss to the Red Sox on Friday.
ImpactThe veteran southpaw threw 28 pitches overall and unsurprisingly was significantly dissatisfied with his performance, with Adam Berry of MLB.com reporting that Hill emphasized after the outing that he holds himself to a higher standard. Hill did say he felt "great" physically during his time on the mound, and although he blamed himself for leaving a lot of fastballs and curveballs up in the zone, he also labeled the issue a "simple fix." that he'll look to implement in his next start.

Goes deep in spring lossBrosseau went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a Grapefruit League loss to the Red Sox on Friday.
ImpactThe valued utility man is now hitting .333 (2-for-6) across three Grapefruit League contests, with both hits leaving the park. Following an impressive four-season, five-stop minor-league career, Brosseau has proven more than capable of handling major-league pitching with consistent success, posting a .284/.343/.500 line with 24 extra-base hits (12 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs) and 28 RBI across his first 240 plate appearances in Tampa Bay. With his ability to fill in all across the infield, left field and designated hitter, Brosseau should be able to carve out consistent playing time throughout the 2021 season.

Thriving with spring opportunityGray, who singled, was hit by a pitch and scored in his two plate appearances during a Grapefruit League loss to the Red Sox on Friday, is 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and t...
ImpactThe 24-year-old showed some nice pop at the High-A and Double-A levels in 2018 and 2019, respectively, racking up 91 extra-base hits (54 doubles, seven triples, 30 home runs) and driving in 133 runs over that span. Gray's batting averages at both stops -- .238 in the former and .225 in the latter -- have been lacking, but he's profiled well during spring training stops with the Rays the last three seasons, lacing four (two doubles, two home runs) of his five hits for extra bases in that sample. Gray is likely ticketed to start the season at Triple-A Durham, and the foundation he's establishing with his early spring work could serve as a launchpad to a successful 2021.
