Jake Reed switched teams while his wife was with the U.S. softball team at the Olympics

Jake Reed - Finds new organizationThe Rays claimed Reed off waivers from the Dodgers on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Durham, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ImpactThe 28-year-old Reed reached the big leagues for the first time in 2021, making six appearances out of the Los Angeles before being designated for assignment Wednesday. While his ratios in his limited sample of MLB action weren't anything special, Reed's 28:7 K:BB across 21 innings in the minors this season intrigued the Rays enough to put in a waiver claim for him. If he continues to impress at Durham, he could earn a look in the Tampa Bay bullpen later this season.

Nick Anderson - Second rehab outing coming MondayAnderson (elbow) is scheduled to pitch one inning Monday in his second rehab appearance for the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio...
ImpactSidelined since late in spring training with a partial ligament tear in his right elbow, Anderson made his 2021 debut in affiliated ball Friday, striking out two over a scoreless frame in the FCL. He'll stick around with the affiliate for at least one more outing before the Rays determine whether he's ready to move his rehab to a higher-level affiliate. Anderson looks to be trending toward an early August return from the 60-day injured list, and he could quickly resurface as a late-inning weapon for Tampa Bay. Though he struggled in the 2020 postseason in part due to pitching at less-than-optimal health, Anderson was dominant in the 60-game regular season, posting a microscopic 0.55 ERA and 0.49 WHIP while striking out 26 and grabbing six saves over 16.1 1innings.

Chris Archer - 60-pitch start on tapArcher (forearm) is scheduled to cover four innings or 60 pitches in his upcoming rehab start Tuesday at Triple-A Durham, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactTuesday's start will mark Archer's third with Durham and the fourth overall of his rehab assignment after he was idle for nearly three months with right forearm tightness. The Rays will likely want Archer to push his pitch count up to the 75-to-90-pitch range before reinstating him from the 60-day injured list, so he'll likely require one more rehab start beyond Tuesday. Perhaps as a reflection of their confidence that Archer and Tyler Glasnow (elbow) will re-emerge as rotation options later in the second half of the season, the Rays dealt away some starting depth Friday, when Rich Hill was shipped to the Mets.

Brett Phillips - Records 12th stealPhillips went 2-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Cleveland.
ImpactPhillips provided a pair of singles as the only Tampa Bay hitter with a multi-hit effort Sunday. He added a stolen base, his 12th in 15 attempts this season. The 27-year-old outfielder lifted his slash line to .213/.313/.362 with five home runs, 20 RBI and 32 runs scored across 203 plate appearances. He'll continue to serve mostly as a fourth outfielder to cover for when Kevin Kiermaier or Randy Arozarena need days off.

Nelson Cruz - Second homer with new teamCruz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Cleveland.
ImpactCruz took Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie deep in the sixth inning. The 41-year-old designated hitter has just two hits in 12 at-bats for Tampa Bay, but both of those hits have landed beyond the fence. Overall, Cruz is slashing a robust .289/.367/.542 with 21 homers, 52 RBI, 47 runs scored and three stolen bases through 357 plate appearances.

Matt Wisler - Melts down in eighth inningWisler (3-4) took the loss Sunday versus Cleveland. He allowed two runs on two hits and a hit batter in one-third of an inning.
ImpactWisler melted down with a one-run lead, and by the time he exited, Tampa Bay was down a run. The right-hander has mostly been solid since he joined the Rays in a trade from the Giants in June, but he's now allowed runs in each of his last three appearances. Overall, the reliever owns a 4.23 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 52:9 K:BB with seven holds and three blown saves across 38.1 innings.
