Wander Franco - Swings in batting cage MondayFranco (quadriceps) posted a video on his personal Instagram account featuring him swinging off a tee in the batting cage Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ImpactFranco's ability to take swings while he manages what he's described as right quad tightness is another sign that the 22-year-old is trending toward being available for Thursday's season opener versus the Tigers. Before locking Franco into weekly fantasy lineups, however, managers will want to confirm that he is in fact in the starting nine when Tampa Bay releases its lineup a few hours before Thursday's 3:10 p.m. ET first pitch.

Zach Eflin - Starting second game of seasonManager Kevin Cash confirmed Eflin will start the Rays' second game of the season Saturday versus the Tigers at Tropicana Field, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactThe Rays are expected to roll out Shane McClanahan, Eflin and Jeffrey Springs as their starters for the season-opening series with Detroit, while Drew Rasmussen, Josh Fleming and McClanahan are slated to pick up starting nods in the following series in Washington next week. Eflin, who signed a three-year, $40 million deal with Tampa Bay in December, built up to 3.1 innings in his most recent Grapefruit League start March 20, so he could have some light restrictions with his pitch count in his regular-season debut.

Luke Raley - Nabs roster spot in Tampa BayRaley has made the Rays' Opening Day roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactRaley has popped five home runs this spring and is out of options, so his spot on the Opening Day roster had seemed pretty secure. The 28-year-old might wind up playing a decent amount against righties as the Rays do their usual mixing and matching and his pop warrants attention in single-league formats and some deep mixed leagues.

Josh Lowe - Makes Opening Day rosterLowe has made the Rays' Opening Day roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactThat's the way it was headed and manager Kevin Cash confirmed Lowe's inclusion on the roster Monday. Lowe might not have a set starting job, but he should see plenty of action between all three outfield spots and designated hitter. The 25-year-old has struggled in the majors to this point, but there's some post-hype sleeper appeal here if he can make enough contact.
