Rafael Montero - Completes bullpen sessionMontero (lat) completed a bullpen session Wednesday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
ImpactMontero is still hoping to pitch again for the Astros this season, but with just four games left on the Astros' schedule following Wednesday's contest against the Rays, he'll face an uphill battle to get activated before Sunday's finale. The 30-year-old has been on the shelf since Aug. 10 with a right lat strain, so he'll presumably need to face hitters in some capacity before Houston would entertain reinstating him.

McCormick started in five of the past six games, going 6-for-20 with a walk, a run and an RBI.

Francisco Mejía - Playing time on riseMejia will start at catcher and bat ninth Wednesday against the Astros.
ImpactWith the Rays having secured the best record in the American League, manager Kevin Cash is expected to rest several regulars over the final week of the season, including No. 1 catcher Mike Zunino. As a result of Zunino getting more frequent days off of late, Mejia has picked up more work. He'll pick up his fourth start in six games after going 4-for-10 with two doubles, a walk, two RBI and two runs in his previous three starts.
