Chris Mazza - Sent to alternate siteMazza was optioned to the team's alternate site Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactMazza has already shuttled between the alternate site and major-league club this season, and he's tallied 8.2 innings for the Rays. They haven't been particularly effective, however, as he has an 11.42 ERA and 2.19 WHIP. A corresponding move will be announced by the team Friday.

Michael Wacha - Allows three in no-decisionWacha allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out a batter over 5.2 innings and was not involved in the decision during Wednesday's 9-8 loss to the Royals.
ImpactAll three runs Wacha let in came via the long ball. Hunter Dozier took him deep to left in the second for a two-run blast and then Jorge Soler led off the fourth by absolutely crushing a fastball down the middle. The 29-year-old Wacha induced just one whiff on 36 swings, as it was his first time managing just one strikeout in a start since Sept. 20, 2019. He'll carry a 4.35 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Athletics on Tuesday.

Jakob Junis - Hit hard early onJunis allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings during Wednesday's 9-8 win over the Rays. He didn't factor into the decision.
ImpactMost of Junis' troubles came in the opening frame, as the Rays piled on four runs behind a two-run homer, two doubles and two walks. He settled down for a bit afterward, allowing just one hit and no runs over the next three innings, but Junis faced more struggles in the fifth, as the Rays opened the frame with three consecutive singles and tacked on another run. Junis has a 4.20 ERA and a 15:6 K:BB in three starts since entering the rotation April 7 and will look to rebound in a road matchup against the Pirates on Tuesday.
