Salvador Perez - Rehab assignment begins TuesdayPerez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
ImpactPerez caught a bullpen session and participated in batting practice this weekend, and he'll return to game action Tuesday for the first time since late June. The 32-year-old underwent surgery on his left thumb June 24 and was initially expected to miss about eight weeks, but it appears likely that he'll be able to rejoin the Royals much earlier than expected.

Luke Raley - Draws third straight startRaley will serve as the Rays' designated hitter and No. 5 batter in Monday's game at Baltimore, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactHe'll be making his third consecutive start after going 1-for-5 with a pair of walks and RBI in the past two contests while getting looks at first base and in left field. Raley looks as though he could see added opportunities while all of Wander Franco (wrist), Harold Ramirez (thumb), Kevin Kiermaier (hip) and Manuel Margot (knee) are stuck on the injured list.

Isaac Paredes - Not starting MondayParedes isn't in the lineup Monday against the Orioles, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactParedes went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Sunday's loss to the Rays and is out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Ji-Man Choi is starting at first base while Luke Raley serves as the designated hitter.

Nick Pratto - Getting everyday lookPratto will start at first base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Angels.
ImpactSince getting his first big-league call-up July 14 in the wake of the Royals placing 10 players on the restricted list, Pratto has retained a full-time role with the big club coming out of the All-Star break. The rookie has gone 7-for-25 with a home run, three doubles, two RBI and a run scored while starting each of the past seven games, and so long as he can continue to hold his own at the dish, the rebuilding Royals should have a regular spot for him in the lineup.

Ryan O'Hearn - Back in bench roleO'Hearn remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.
ImpactO'Hearn made four consecutive starts in right field during the Royals' series in Toronto to close out the first half, but he's predictably faded back into a bench role coming out of the All-Star break with Kansas City having since returned 10 players from the restricted list. He'll be on the bench for the fourth game in a row, with Hunter Dozier having since taken over as Kansas City's everyday right fielder.

Bobby Witt Jr. - Out of lineup MondayWitt (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Angels.
ImpactWitt tweaked his hamstring Sunday and will now be unavailable for Monday's series opener. The exact nature of his injury remains to be seen and he is considered day-to-day for the time being. Nicky Lopez will slide over to shortstop while Emmanuel Rivera takes over at third base and bats sixth against Los Angeles.

Salvador Perez - Approaching rehab assignmentPerez (thumb) caught a bullpen session and took part in batting practice over the weekend, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
ImpactManager Mike Matheny said Sunday that Perez is progressing toward a minor-league rehab assignment, though the skipper didn't outline when exactly that might come. Regardless, Perez seems to be coming along slightly faster than expected in his recovery from June 24 surgery to address a fractured left thumb. The Royals initially expected Perez to be sidelined for eight weeks, but the veteran backstop looks like he might have a realistic chance at making it back from the 10-day injured list by mid-August if he hits no further snags in his recovery program.
