DJ Johnson - Moves to 60-day ILJohnson (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactJohnson landed on the injured list with a sprained right shoulder Aug. 10, and manager Kevin Cash said the right-hander will miss "significant time." As a result, it's not very surprising to see the 31-year-old move to the 60-day IL, which will force him to miss the remainder of the regular season. Whether Johnson could be available for the postseason remains to be seen, but right-hander Chris Ellis' contract was selected as part of Monday's transaction.

Ryan Sherriff - Optioned to Triple-ASherriff was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactSherriff struggled to limit run production recently, as he allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out four in 3.2 innings across his last four appearances. He'll attempt to sort things out in the minors after right-hander Chris Ellis' contract was selected as part of the transaction.

Chris Ellis - Contract selected MondayEllis' contract was selected from Triple-A Durham on Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactEllis failed to land a spot on the Rays' Opening Day roster and recorded a 6.32 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 57 innings across 15 appearances (13 starts) at Triple-A Durham to begin the year. He should be available as a long reliever but will also be able to step in as a starter if needed.

Rays sign David Robertson, lose Jeffrey Springs for seasonThe former Yankees and White Sox closer pitched for the Olympic team; the lefty reliever had ACL surgery after rehab didn’t work.

Jeffrey Springs - Done for seasonSprings underwent surgery Monday to repair the ACL in his right knee and was transferred to the 60-day-injured list, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactSprings was originally expected to miss just 2-to-4 weeks after spraining his right knee on the final day of July, but he'll now miss the rest of the season after attempts to rehab the injury failed to achieve the desired results. He'll technically be eligible to return for the final few days of the regular season, but since ACL surgery necessitates more than 60 days of recovery time, he'll be at risk of missing a portion of 2022, as well. The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for the Rays to add David Robertson.
