Aaron Hicks - Cleared to start MondayHicks (hip) will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game in Toronto.
ImpactAfter exiting Tuesday's 10-5 win over the Athletics with left hip tightness, Hicks didn't appear in any of the Yankees' next five games to close out the week. It's unclear if the injury kept Hicks unavailable or if he was simply excluded from the lineup for performance-related reasons, but whatever the case, his inclusion in the starting nine Monday indicates he's healthy again. Hicks still looks to be no better than fifth or sixth in the pecking order for playing time in the outfield, with all of Aaron Judge, Harrison Bader, Jake Bauers and possibly both of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswaldo Cabrera ahead of him.

Jake Bauers - Batting leadoff again MondayBauers is in the leadoff spot for the Yankees for the second straight game Monday versus the Blue Jays, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
ImpactBauers has been productive since joining the team in late April and is getting a shot at the top of the batting order for the second day in a row. He's starting in left field against Alek Manoah.

Harrison Bader - Taking seat MondayBader is not in the Yankees' lineup for Monday's contest in Toronto, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
ImpactIt's a regular day off for Bader, who had started 11 of 12 games since returning from the injured list. Aaron Hicks will get a start in center field Monday.

DJ LeMahieu - Not playing MondayLeMahieu is absent from the Yankees' lineup for Monday's game versus the Blue Jays, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
ImpactIt looks to be a routine day off for the veteran infielder. Oswaldo Cabrera will handle third base while LeMahieu rides the bench.

Luis Severino - Could make season debut SundaySeverino (lat) may be activated from the IL in time to start Sunday in Cincinnati, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
ImpactSeverino threw 49 pitches in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last Wednesday, and he's slated to make his next start with the minor-league club Tuesday. The right-hander will likely increase his pitch count to some extent in that outing, and if the appearance goes well, he could be given the go-ahead to make his 2023 MLB debut Sunday against the Reds. Severino would almost certainly have his workload monitored under that scenario, as he didn't see any sort of game action during the entire month of April as he worked his way back from a low-grade lat strain that he suffered near the end of spring training.
