Placed on injured list Jones (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Impact Jones dealt with lower-back discomfort in camp and will be forced to miss time to begin the regular season. A timetable for his return isn't clear, and he isn't guaranteed a spot on the major-league roster once he's healthy.

Battling back issue Jones is dealing with a back issue which will keep him out for Opening Day and potentially much longer, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact Jones owns a .660 OPS in 42 career MLB games, so he probably wasn't a candidate for the Opening Day roster even if healthy. His back issue is feared to be a longer-term problem, though exactly how long it's expected to keep him out is unclear.
