Max Scherzer - In holding pattern Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Scherzer (shoulder) remains in a "holding pattern," MLB.com reports.

Impact Bochy said Scherzer met with a team physician on Friday, but did not have any details to offer regarding the meeting. Earlier in the week, Bochy indicated that the pitcher is "just not ready" and that appears to be situation at this time. The Rangers will continue to evaluate Scherzer regularly over the final month of the season.

Corey Seager - Homers in loss Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Guardians.

Impact Seager brought the Rangers within one run with an eighth-inning solo shot. It was the 29th of the season for Seager, who is on the precipice of a third consecutive season with at least 30 home runs.

Dane Dunning - Works out of bullpen Saturday Dunning was used in relief in Saturday's 13-5 loss to the Guardians, tossing one inning while allowing one earned run on two hits.

Impact Dunning had started in both of his previous two appearances, but he looks set to operate as a reliever moving forward with the Rangers expected to call up Jack Leiter from Triple-A Round Rock during the upcoming week to serve as a temporary fifth member of the rotation until at least one of Tyler Mahle (shoulder), Jacob deGrom (elbow) or Max Scherzer (shoulder) returns from the injured list. In his last start Monday against the Pirates, Dunning averaged just 88.1 miles per hour with his fastball, and he didn't notice much of a bump in velocity Saturday despite moving to the bullpen. He maxed out at 90.3 mph and failed to generate a swinging strike from any of the four batters he faced.

Cody Bradford - Handed tough-luck loss Bradford (4-2) yielded two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over six innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against Cleveland.

Impact Bradford gave up a run in each of the first two innings but settled in to deliver his third straight quality start. After a 4-0 start through seven outings, he's lost two straight starts despite giving up just four earned runs over 13 innings during that span. He's sporting a 3.31 ERA with an impressive 44:8 K:BB through 49 innings. Bradford's next outing is projected to be at home against Oakland.

Jacob deGrom - Next rehab start set Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that deGrom (elbow) will make his next rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Impact The right-hander threw 29 pitches over two innings during his first rehab outing Thursday with Double-A Frisco, and he'll continue building up his workload at Triple-A. DeGrom will likely need a couple more starts beyond Tuesday's outing before making his season debut with the Rangers as he nears the finish line of his return from Tommy John surgery.

Impact Southpaw Matthew Boyd will draw the start for the Guardians, so the lefty-hitting Smith will hit the bench in favor of the right-handed-hitting Ezequiel Duran, who gets the nod at third base. Jung will have Monday's team off day to rest up and is expected to be fully cleared for Tuesday's series opener versus the White Sox.

Impact Langford has three multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, going 11-for-32 (.344) in that span. Only two of those hits have been for extra bases, but he's still managed to rack up six RBI. The outfielder is now slashing .246/.314/.369 with seven home runs, 12 stolen bases, 50 RBI, 47 runs scored, 18 doubles and four triples over 103 contests this season.

Jon Gray - Hit hard in return to rotation Gray (5-5) allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out one over two-plus innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Guardians.

Impact Gray worked out of the bullpen Tuesday versus the Pirates, pitching two innings in that appearance. He was able to stretch out to 53 pitches (36 strikes) in Saturday's start, but he was not very effective and exited after giving up a three-run home to Jhonkensy Noel in the third inning. Gray missed nearly a month due to a groin injury, and he's still likely to be on a pitch count for the next one or two starts at a minimum. For the season, he's posted a 4.22 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 81:26 K:BB through 98 innings across 22 appearances (18 starts). Gray's next outing is tentatively projected to be at home versus the Athletics.
