Grant Anderson - Contract selected by Rangers Anderson had his contract selected by the Rangers on Monday.

Impact Anderson will join the Rangers after he posted a 3.80 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 21.1 innings in 11 appearances, including one start, with Triple-A Round Rock this season. The right-hander will be added to the big-league bullpen, replacing Cody Bradford on the major-league roster after Bradford was optioned to Triple-A. Ricky Vanasco was designated for assignment Monday to open a spot for Anderson on the 40-man roster.

Ricky Vanasco - Booted off 40-man roster The Rangers designated Vanasco (knee) for assignment Monday.

Impact Vanasco emerged as one of the Rangers' more promising pitching prospects after a brilliant age-20 season split between the rookie-ball and Single-A levels, but he's struggled to return to form following his September 2020 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander was on the shelf at Double-A Frisco to begin the current campaign while recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, but he was cleared for his season debut May 20 and has been lit up for 10 runs (six earned) on four hits and four walks over 2.1 innings. The Rangers will now remove Vanasco from the 40-man roster, and since the 24-year-old doesn't look as though he's close to being big-league ready, he'll most likely go unclaimed off waivers and remain in the organization as a member of Frisco's pitching staff.

Josh H. Smith - Sits against lefty Smith is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Impact With southpaw Matthew Boyd on the bump for Detroit, Smith and fellow lefty hitter Travis Jankowski will both head to the bench while the righty-hitting Bubba Thompson picks up a start in left field. While Ezequiel Duran (oblique) is on the shelf, Smith and Jankowski will likely be jockeying for one spot in Texas' everyday lineup versus right-handed pitching.

Impact Bradford allowed a pair of runs in the first inning before settling down and shutting out Baltimore over his final four frames.
