Impact Thompson made his first start in seven games, which is appropriate for a player hitting .178. He's reached base 11 times (eight hits, three walks) over 49 plate appearances and attempted four steals (caught once). Thompson's always looking to run, so the two walks were hopeful sign.

Impact Grossman pulled a solo shot to right in the top of the sixth, putting the Rangers up 5-4. This was the outfielder's fourth homer of the year, and he's now slashing .239/.299/.389. The former Twin is on pace to have his most productive year since 2021, when he smacked 23 long balls and had 67 RBI.

Martín Pérez - Turns in shaky outing Perez did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out three.
Impact Perez certainly improved on his last appearance, when he coughed up seven runs in 3.2 innings against the Angels. However, this still wasn't a great showing, and it was against a historically bad Athletics team (9-31). The southpaw has a generous 1.61 WHIP so far this year, but there is good reason to believe that he can turn it around. The 32-year-old veteran posted a 2.41 ERA across six starts in the month of April, so this could possibly just be a rough patch.
