Blasts second long ballGuzman started at first base and went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Saturday's spring game against Arizona.
ImpactGuzman is having a strong start to Cactus League play, with four hits and two home runs through seven at-bats. The Rangers presumably acquired Nate Lowe during the offseason to be the starting first baseman, but Guzman is making it difficult for the team to move on from him.

Looks good at 3BOdor started at third base and went 1-for-2 with a two-run double in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactOdor returned from a one-day absence due to a personal matter and was back to his mission of adjusting to third base. In addition to the double, he made multiple plays at third base including a diving stop to get an out at first base, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. "[Playing third] is not as hard if he's committed to it," manager Chris Woodward said. "I think he's got the skill set to be a third baseman. He's got a skill set, definitely, to play second, but he's got the hands and the footwork and the arm strength to play third base." Odor has played two games at third base this spring, so he's still getting used to the new position.

Makes first spring startHearn allowed one walk and struck out one over two scoreless innings in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactHearn is prepared to fill whatever role the Rangers have in mind, and the left-hander is being built up as a starter during spring training. "We're gonna kind of take it slow with him, but I think eventually, I see that he's got stuff enough to be a traditional starter," manager Chris Woodward told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. The manager added commanding the strike zone consistently will be an important determinant for Hearn. The pitcher did well in that regard Saturday, throwing 17 strikes among his 26 pitches, and showed good poise in the second inning when he settled down after throwing five straight pitches outside the zone.

Debut coming SundaySoria will make his Cactus League debut Sunday against the Cubs, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
ImpactSoria was acquired in the offseason, and he's widely presumed to be Arizona's closer, although manager Torey Lovullo said he is competing against Stefan Crichton.

Up, down three timesGallen allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three over three scoreless innings in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Rangers.
ImpactGallen became the first Diamondbacks starter to pitch a second game and progress to three innings. The right-hander told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic that he felt better during his second spring appearance. "I felt under control," Gallen said. "I felt like I had control of all four or five pitches. Still knocking the rust off, but overall I was pleased with how I felt." He threw 46 pitches (31 strikes) Saturday, fewer pitches than in his first appearance while getting more outs. He was particularly pleased with his curveball and changeup.
