Ryan McKenna - Struggling in SeptemberMcKenna has gone 9-for-49 (.184) through 19 games in September.
ImpactIn that span, he's posted an ugly 5:24 BB:K. McKenna has been little more than a fourth outfielder for Baltimore when on the big-league roster. He's slashing a meager .191/.302/.280 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 19 runs scored and a stolen base through 183 plate appearances.

Pedro Severino - Smacks 11th homerSeverino went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a pair of walks in Sunday's 7-4 loss to Texas.
ImpactThe catcher tried to spark a rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Baltimore fell short. Severino has hit safely in his last six games, going 7-for-22 (.318) in that span. He's lifted his slash line to .242/.304/.383 with 11 homers 44 RBI, 32 runs scored and 18 doubles through 398 plate appearances. Severino may get more time off down the stretch as Baltimore could take the last week of the season to evaluate Austin Wynns and Nick Ciuffo.

Eric Hanhold - Inconsistent in low-leverage roleHanhold has allowed four runs in 8.1 innings since he joined the Orioles on Sept. 12.
ImpactThe right-hander has mainly served in a low-leverage role, although he's gotten into eight games in the two weeks he's been with the big club. In addition to the four runs, Hanhold has given up 10 hits and two walks with just four strikeouts. He'll continue to serve as a depth arm in the bullpen over the last week of the season.

John Means - Strikes out eight in lossMeans (6-8) allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out eight over five innings, taking the loss versus Texas on Sunday.
ImpactThe southpaw gave up a two-run home run to Andy Ibanez in the fourth inning and an RBI double to Adolis Garcia in the fifth to account for the runs on his line. Means issued no walks for the first time in his five September starts. He's been effective this year with a 3.32 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 132:26 K:BB across 143.2 innings. The Baltimore ace should get one more start this year, tentatively scheduled for next weekend in Toronto.

Leody Taveras - Swipes bag, scores twice SundayTaveras went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over Baltimore.
ImpactThe outfielder recorded his fourth stolen base in September and his 10th of the season. Taveras has struggled to make an impact with the bat this year, slashing only .169/.208/.288 with three home runs, eight RBI and 13 runs scored across 169 plate appearances. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old should see fairly regular playing time in the final week of the season to audition for a big-league job heading into the 2022 season.

His multi-hit effort Sunday was his fourth in eight games since returning from a hamstring injury, though he has gone hitless in the other four contests in that span.
