Debuts at hot cornerOdor started at third base and went 1-for-3 in Wednesday's spring game against the Angels.
ImpactThis was Odor's first start at the hot corner, the position he seems most likely to play in 2021. He was scheduled to start at second base but asked manager Chris Woodward before the game to switch positions, Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News reports. "He felt it was important to get out there as soon as possible, which was music to my ears," Woodward said. "I thought it was great, it was good for the team." The Rangers suggested over the offseason that Nick Solak is likely to start at second base, Odor's previous position.

Starts in left fieldGuzman made his first start in left field Wednesday and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored against the Angels, Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News reports.
ImpactThe Rangers are exploring the possibility of rostering both Guzman and Nate Lowe, two first baseman whose presence on the roster would be redundant -- hence the need for one or both to add some versatility. Guzman has taken quickly to the outfield, per manager Chris Woodward, which raises the potential for both to make the Opening Day roster. He also has three hits, including a home run, over his first five spring at-bats.

Nearing spring debutStassi (hip) is participating in full workouts and could get into a Cactus League game soon, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
ImpactStassi is still recovering from the hip surgery he underwent following the 2020 season, but he appears close to ready to returning to game action. As long as his debut isn't delayed much longer, the 29-year-old should have adequate time to gear up for Opening Day. Stassi is expected to serve as the Angels' primary catcher in 2021.
