Alex Kirilloff - Visit with wrist specialist comingTwins manager Rocco Baldelli said Wednesday that Kirilloff will head to Dayton, Ohio over the weekend to receive further evaluation from a specialist on his sprained right wrist, A...
ImpactThe rookie was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Wednesday after the sore right wrist that kept him out of Tuesday's game against the Rangers was later diagnosed as a sprain. Until Kirilloff meets with the specialist, the Twins won't have a clear timeline for his return, but Baldelli said he's optimistic the 23-year-old won't be in store for an extended absence. Miguel Sano (hamstring) was activated from the IL in a corresponding move Wednesday and should take over as Minnesota's everyday first baseman while Kirilloff is on the mend.

Michael Pineda - Cleared for Thursday startTwins manager Rocco Baldelli said Pineda (wrist) will be ready to start Thursday's series finale against the Rangers, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ImpactPineda's sore right wrist apparently responded well to his between-starts throwing session Tuesday, so he'll be able to make his normal turn in the rotation on five days' rest Thursday. The 32-year-old righty has gotten off to an excellent start to the season, posting a 2.30 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB in 27.1 innings through his first five starts.

Jake Cave - Bound for bench WednesdayCave is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ImpactThough he'll be on the bench with a southpaw (Hyeon-Jong Yang) on the mound for Texas, Cave looks well-positioned to fill a large-side platoon role in Minnesota outfield in the short term. Alex Kirilloff (wrist) joined Luis Arraez (concussion) on the injured list Wednesday, leaving Cave and the right-handed Kyle Garlick as likely platoon partners at the corner-outfield spot opposite Max Kepler.
