Adolis García - Will get time in RFTexas manager Chris Woodward said Garcia will play some right field in 2022, Jesse Borek of MLB.com reports.
ImpactWoodward wants to keep Garcia fresh all season by limiting his exposure to everyday play in center field. "I want to keep him physically not burnt out because I know the toll that it took on him last year just playing that position," Woodward explained. "It beats your body up when you play center field, especially the way he plays it." Garcia, a surprise fantasy star of 2021, belted 31 home runs with 90 RBI and 16 stolen bases, but he had a few pronounced valleys for stretches during the season.

Nick Solak - Makes up for miscueSolak went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's spring training game against Oakland.
ImpactSolak, who played second base in 2021, is trying to diversify into left field, where he started Thursday. He didn't play a game in the outfield last season and was shaky early, when he misplayed a ball due to the sun, which led to a run. He later made up for it by cranking a two-run homer, his second four-bagger of the Cactus League. If Solak's going to get regular at-bats in 2022, it will be as an outfielder. He's 4-for-10 thus far in three spring training games.

Jon Gray - Shows off slider in debutGray allowed one run on four hits and struck out four over two innings in Thursday's spring training start against the Athletics.
ImpactGray made his Texas debut and looked sharp. All four strikeouts were the result of a revamped slider, Jesse Borek of MLB.com reports. "It's moving a lot more," Gray said of the slider he worked on with pitching coach Brendan Sagara. "It's got a lot more horizontal action on it. It probably moves double the amount my old one does... This one kind of goes across the whole plate." The right-hander already had a pretty good slider, as batters were limited to a .156 batting average and .300 slugging percentage against the pitch he threw a career-high 38.1 percent of the time in 2021. Gray is a leading candidate to become the the ace of a Rangers' staff that's looking for a bona fide No. 1 starter.
