Shifts to 60-day IL The Yankees transferred Locastro (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

Impact Locastro was already ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery last week to repair a torn ACL, so his move to the 60-day IL is merely procedural. The transaction clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Gio Urshela, who was reinstated from the COVID-19 IL ahead of Sunday's series finale in Boston.

Slated for surgery Wednesday Locastro is scheduled to have surgery on his right knee Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

Impact Locastro tore his right ACL while catching a flyball against the wall July 17 and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2021 season. He slashed .180/.263/.252 with five stolen bases and two home runs across 64 games between the Diamondbacks and the Yankees on the campaign.

Impact Locastro exited Saturday's game in the second inning after he banged into the wall while catching a flyball in the first.
