Impact While MLB's rule changes the last few years have effectively eliminated the LOOGY role, apparently nobody told the Blue Jays. Mayza has worked less than one inning in nine of his last 11 appearances, recording four holds over that stretch with a 2.57 ERA and 6:2 K:BB through seven innings. His usage puts a firm limit on his fantasy value, even in deeper formats that score holds, but the 31-year-old remains a key part of the Toronto bullpen.

Impact The southpaw cut through the bottom of Kansas City's order after entering the game with one out and one on in the seventh inning, fanning Vinnie Pasquantino, Jackie Bradley, Nate Eaton and Nicky Lopez on only 19 pitches (13 strikes). Mayza has collected at least 16 holds in three straight seasons, and he figures to be comfortably in double digits again in 2023 as the top lefty in the Toronto bullpen.

Impact The 31-year-old lefty appeared in only one Grapefruit League game after March 18 as the Blue Jays let their top set-up men get in most of their work on back fields late in camp. Mayza has racked up 52 holds over the last three seasons and figured to be Toronto's top relief option from the port side again in 2023.

Impact Mayza was once again a solid bullpen piece for Toronto in 2022 and recorded two saves and 16 holds with a 3.14 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB across 48.2 innings. The veteran lefty should fill a similar role out of the bullpen in 2023.

Impact After Anthony Bass began the 10th inning and got the first two outs while also walking a batter, Mayza got the call from the bullpen and intentionally walked Aaron Judge to load the bases before getting Anthony Rizzo to ground out. Mayza was then rewarded for his brief performance when Vladimir Guerrero laced a walkoff single in the bottom of the frame. The lefty reliever has the most wins in the majors without a loss this season, and it's not even close -- the next-best unblemished record is a 5-0 mark held by a few different pitchers -- and Mayza's also supplied a 2.91 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB through 46.1 innings.
