Records first save in four years Kahnle picked up a save against the Padres on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect 10th inning.
Impact After the Dodgers scored the game's first run in the top of the 10th, Kahnle was called upon to close the door in the bottom of the frame. The automatic runner moved to third base with one out, but Kahnle then struck out Trent Grisham and induced a Ha-Seong Kim groundout to finish off his first save since 2018. The right-hander has held the opponent scoreless in nine of 11 appearances this season and could see more save chances moving forward now that manager Dave Roberts has transitioned to a closer committee after moving Craig Kimbrel out of the role.

Impact Kahnle has gradually been working his arm back into shape since he began throwing in late June. He touched 97 mph during Saturday's sim game and has progressed to the point that he's about ready to begin throwing in minor-league contests. If all goes well moving forward, Kahnle could join the Dodgers' bullpen sometime in September.

Impact According to Vassegh, this was Kahnle's third bullpen session since he landed on the injured list in mid-May. The veteran reliever underwent Tommy John surgery in August of 2020 and has pitched in only four games since, so Los Angeles is likely to bring him along slowly. Kahnle isn't expected to return to the big club until early September.

Resumes throwing Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Kahnle (forearm) has resumed throwing, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Impact Kahnle has been on the injured list since May 17 due to right forearm inflammation, and he's in the midst of a shutdown. The Dodgers haven't yet revealed a timetable for the right-hander's return, but his move to the 60-day IL signals that he'll likely be sidelined until at least after the All-Star break.
