Pitches two innings in return Gonsolin (forearm) tossed two innings against Colorado on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out three batters in a no-decision.

Impact Gonsolin missed over a month while dealing with a right forearm strain, so his start Monday was intentionally brief. The right-hander threw 40 pitches (24 for strikes) and did well by striking out three batters, though a trio of Rockies hits in the second inning resulted in a run against him. Gonsolin finished the regular season with a standout 2.14 ERA and 0.87 WHIP over 130.1 innings, but the time missed due to injury means he won't qualify to be among the league leaders in those categories. Gonsolin will next throw a simulated game Sunday, and if that goes well, he's expected to be placed on the NLDS roster as a potential starter in Game 3 or 4, per Michael J. Duarte of NBC LA.

Impact After spending over a month on the injured list due to a strained right forearm, Gonsolin will return Monday and start against the Rockies. He threw just two innings during his rehab assignment, so he will likely be on a relatively-low pitch count. Andre Jackson will return to Triple-A with the re-addition of Gonsolin to the roster.

Breezes through short rehab start Gonsolin (forearm) struck out two over two scoreless innings Tuesday in his rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He allowed one hit and no walks in the 27-pitch appearance.

Impact Though Gonsolin looked sharp in his first game action in more than a month, his light pitch count means he likely won't be ready to handle a typical starter's workload if the Dodgers choose to activate him from the 15-day injured list rather than having him make another rehab appearance. Since the Dodgers have already secured the top seed in the National League playoffs and won't open their postseason schedule until Oct. 11, Gonsolin will still have just under two weeks to build up his pitch count through Los Angeles' remaining regular-season games and/or simulated games.

Impact Gonsolin hasn't pitched in a game in over a month due to a strained right forearm. The only way he can make it back this year is if he returns after a single rehab appearance, but it looks like that's the Dodgers' plan. While he's expected to pitch as a starter upon his return, don't expect him to pitch too deep into the game in his first start back, as he's scheduled to throw only two innings Tuesday and will likely be limited to three or four in his subsequent outing.
