Tyler Chatwood - Rehabbing at Triple-AChatwood (neck) made his fourth rehab appearance at Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, tossing a scoreless sixth inning for the affiliate in its 3-2 win over Syracuse. He scattered a hit...
ImpactThough Chatwood has allowed only one run over 3.2 innings during the rehab assignment, the control issues he battled prior to landing on the injured list July 2 with a neck strain haven't gone away. He's now issued six walks over his four appearances at Buffalo, and he pumped in only 11 of his 23 pitches for strikes Sunday. Until Chatwood shows that he can consistently find the strike zone at Triple-A, the Blue Jays may be loath to expedite his return from the IL.

Marcus Semien - Knocks two doublesSemien went 2-for-4 with two double, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Mets.
ImpactSemien scored in the sixth and eighth innings and collected his third multi-hit game since the All-Star break. The veteran infielder went 4-for-9 with four runs and three extra-base hits over the weekend, raising his season OPS to .873 through 428 plate appearances. Still, he's just 15-for-66 (.227) with 15 strikeouts in July.

Pete Alonso - Goes deep againAlonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 5-4 win over Toronto.
ImpactAlonso's two-run shot in the sixth inning was his 22nd of the year and ninth of July. He's been on fire recently, going 12-for-32 (.375) with five homers and 10 RBI over his last seven games. The 26-year-old slugger improved his OPS to .858 with 34 extra-base hits and 59 RBI.

Ross Stripling - Fans six in solid startStripling allowed one run on five hits through five innings in Sunday's loss to the Mets. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.
ImpactThe only damage against Stripling was an RBI single by Jonathan Villar in the second inning. It was a strong performance after yielding 10 runs and five homers in just four innings over his last two starts. The 6-foot-3 righty now owns a 4.84 ERA through 80 frames. Stripling is projected to face the Royals at home next week.

Jacob deGrom - Mound session goes wellMets manager Luis Rojas said deGrom (forearm) "felt good" while throwing off a mound Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. "Everything is progressing well as of now," Rojas sa...
ImpactDeGrom stepped back on the mound Sunday for the first time since being diagnosed with the injury July 17, and though the workout went according to plan, the team isn't yet willing to commit to a rehab schedule for the right-hander. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets do intend to have deGrom make a minor-league rehab start prior to being activated from the injured list, which means the National League MVP candidate wouldn't be on track to rejoin the big club until early August at the soonest, given where he currently stands in his recovery program. Fantasy managers can probably feel confident that they won't miss out on a deGrom start by keeping him inactive for the Mets' upcoming eight-game week.

Rich Hill - Allows three runs in team debutHill yielded three runs on three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings in Sunday's win over Toronto. He struck out one and did not factor in the decision.
ImpactHill dealt five shutout innings before running into trouble in the sixth. He was removed after putting the first three batters on base and was charged with three runs when they all came around to score. The veteran lefty threw just 62 pitches (39 strikes) before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Hill is now sporting a 3.95 ERA with a 92:38 K:BB through 100.1 innings this season. He's lined up to face the Reds at home next weekend.

Tom Hatch - Locked in to start MondayBlue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo confirmed that Hatch will start Monday's game against the Red Sox, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
ImpactBefore committing to starting Hatch in Monday's series opener, the Blue Jays made the right-hander available out of the bullpen in an emergency for Sunday's game against the Mets, but he wasn't needed in Toronto's 5-4 loss. Hatch has gone unused since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo on July 19, so Monday's outing will mark his 2021 debut for the big club. Alek Manoah (back) is ultimately expected to displace Hatch as a starter, but the latter could end up making two or three turns through the rotation due to a doubleheader against the Red Sox coming up Aug. 7.
