Ji-Man Choi - Taking at-bats MondayChoi (knee) will take some at-bats at the Rays' alternate training site Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactChoi underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee March 31, and the recovery timetable is believed to be 4-5 weeks. The 29-year-old appears to be making good progress, and the team hopes to get him approximately 30 at-bats before he's ready to return to game action. Choi will join Triple-A Durham for the first series of the minor-league season and could be in line to make his season debut shortly after.

Kevin Kiermaier - Sits against leftyKiermaier is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
ImpactAfter having started each of the Rays' last seven games and with a lefty (Sean Manaea) on the mound for the opposition, the lefty-hitting Kiermaier will get a breather in the series opener. Since being activated from the injured list April 17, Kiermaier has gone 9-for-26 with five runs, three RBI and a stolen base.

Francisco Mejía - Sits in favor of ZuninoMejia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
ImpactMike Zunino will get a turn behind the plate after Mejia had caught in three of the last four games. Zunino remains the superior defensive option of the two, but Mejia appears to have shown enough improvement in that area early on during his first season in Tampa Bay to turn the Rays' catching situation into more of a timeshare than it has been in recent years. Both backstops have gotten off to strong starts with the bat as well, but Zunino's track record offers less hope that he can maintain his hot start than Mejia.
