Will Smith - Secures 12th saveSmith gave up two hits and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his 12th save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

ImpactThe veteran reliever converted his eighth straight save chance, a stretch that dates back to May 8 in which he's posted a 2.40 ERA and 18:2 K:BB through 15 innings. Smith has solidified the back of the Texas bullpen this season, reaching double-digit saves for the fourth time in his career, but his rebound this season may be the product of more than a little luck -- despite a career-low 23 percent groundball rate and career-high 41 percent flyball rate, his 5.7 percent HR/FB% is less than half his 2022 mark.

Dane Dunning - Collects sixth winDunning (6-1) picked up the win Saturday, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings in a 4-2 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out three.

ImpactThe right-hander delivered his third quality start of the year on 89 pitches (61 strikes), as a three-run second innings by the Rangers gave Dunning all the support he needed. Since moving into the rotation at the beginning of May, he sports a 3.25 ERA and 28:14 K:BB through eight starts and 44.1 innings, and while he hasn't been dominant, he has done an excellent job of keeping the ball in the park -- Daulton Varsho's fourth-inning solo shot was only the fourth homer Dunning has served up in 2023. He's next set to take the mound next weekend, on the road against the Yankees.

ImpactToronto has gone with something of a tandem approach to filling the hole in its rotation, and for the second straight appearance Richards started and went three innings before giving way to the rest of the bullpen. Unlike his last outing June 10, when he fanned seven Twins over three shutout frames, the right-hander had far less success this time around, tossing 36 of 65 pitches for strikes and serving up back-to-back homers to Josh Jung and Jonah Heim in the second inning. Until Alek Manoah turns things around or Hyun Jin Ryu (elbow) is ready to return, the Jays will likely continue patching together their fifth starter spot, and Richards should remain a big part of that plan. On the season, he sports a 3.82 ERA and 51:15 K:BB through 33 innings.
