Not concerned about shoulder injury Mahle said Wednesday that his shoulder injury is "not concerning at all," Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Mahle was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain Wednesday, and he underwent an MRI that revealed some non-concerning irritation and inflammation. The right-hander will be shut down for 5-to-7 days to allow his shoulder to heal, but he expects to be back in action shortly after the All-Star break.

Placed on 15-day IL Mahle was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain Wednesday, retroactive to July 3.
Impact Mahle was scheduled to start the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh, but he'll be sidelined through the All-Star break after landing on the injured list. It's not yet clear who will take the right-hander's place in the rotation or when he'll be cleared to rejoin the Reds. Mahle posted a 4.58 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 17.2 innings over his last three appearances.

Impact With that, Mahle is now 0-5 at Great American Ball Park this season compared to 3-2 on the road. While Saturday's outing wasn't horrible, he did himself no favors with the four walks. Mahle entered Saturday's game with a 2.45 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over his previous six starts, so he's been pitching well overall, but he's difficult to trust at home against the game's better lineups.

Impact Mahle took advantage of 10 runs of offensive support to notch his third win of the season on the back of 6.2 effective innings. The 27-year-old right-hander now has five quality starts in his last six appearances, with the one weak performance during that stretch coming against the Dodgers. Mahle has shown the ability to generate swinging strikes on his 94 mph fastball over the course of his career, and he is averaging 10 strikeouts per nine innings this season. He will try to pick up win number four next week against Atlanta.

Impact Mahle pitched one of the best games of his career, but the Reds' offense couldn't scrape together a run until the 10th inning. He's recorded double-digit strikeouts in his last two starts, and he's turned in quality starts in six of his last seven outings. The right-hander's excellent game Tuesday dropped his ERA from 5.07 to 4.46 with a 1.23 WHIP and 86:30 K:BB through 74.2 innings overall. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect a repeat performance in his next start, which is projected to be a home start versus the Dodgers next week, but Mahle has been in excellent form over the last month-plus.
